Carl Davis participates in American football as a defensive tackle for the National Football League’s New England Patriots. He played high school football at Adlai Stevenson High School, where he attended. The Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News, and The Macomb Daily all named him as first-team all-state. After receiving second-team recognition as a junior, he was named to the All-Conference first team as a senior.
He registered for classes at the University of Iowa and participated in collegiate football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. In 2010, he was given a redshirt while a true freshman at the University of Iowa. He participated in six games and made two tackles as a redshirt freshman in 2011. He took part in 11 games as a sophomore and had eight tackles.
In 2013, Davis, a junior, started each of the team’s 13 games for the first time. In the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the Baltimore Ravens. He inked a $4.95 million, four-year deal with the Ravens in May 2015, which also included a $625,084 signing bonus. In August of 2019, the Browns cut Davis loose.
The Indianapolis Colts acquired him in October of this year. The Jacksonville Jaguars signed him the same month after he was released by the team in November 2019. Off the Jaguars’ practice squad in October 2020, he was acquired by the New England Patriots. He re-signed with the Patriots in April 2022 after agreeing to an extension of his contract with them in March 2021.
