Carl Davis plays defensive tackle for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He participated in football at Adlai Stevenson High School during his high school years. He was selected for the first team of all-state by the Macomb Daily, Detroit News, and Detroit Free Press. After being named to the second team as a junior, he was named to the conference’s first team in his senior year.
While a student at the University of Iowa, he participated in collegiate football as a player for the Iowa Hawkeyes. He received a redshirt in 2010 while a true freshman at the University of Iowa. As a redshirt freshman, he has played in six games and had two tackles.
In his first season as a starter as a junior in 2013, Davis started all 13 games. He was chosen by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He signed a four-year, $2.95 million contract with the Ravens in May 2015, which also included a $625,084 signing bonus. In August 2019, Davis was discharged by the Browns. The Indianapolis Colts signed him in October of this year.
In the same month that the Jacksonville Jaguars signed him after his release in November 2019, he was also released. He was signed by the New England Patriots in October 2020 from the Jaguars practice squad. In March 2021, he extended his contract with the Patriots, and in April 2022, he re-signed.
