Jahlani Karl Tavai is one of the professional football players who plays as a linebacker for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. He is 1.88 m tall and weighs 113 kg. He attended Mira Costa High School and played college football for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football team at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
He redshirted during his freshman year in 2014. The following season in 2015, he recorded a total of 56 tackles. As a sophomore, he recorded 128 tackles. In his senior year, he recorded 82 total tackles. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.
His stats were 58 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, two passes defensed, and an interception across 15 games with six starts. He sustained a shoulder injury in Week 16, and on December 23, 2019, he was put on injured reserve. He was released by the Detroit Lions on August 31, 2021 as a result of the last preseason roster cuts.
In September 2021, the New England Patriots added him to their practice squad after the Lions released him. After meeting with Matt Patricia, his former head coach in Detroit, he was eventually activated. On October 13, 2021, he received a promotion to the active roster.
