Jonathan Jones is a professional American football player who competes for the National Football League’s New England Patriots as a quarterback. He is 1.78 m tall and 86 kg in weight. His high school was Carrollton. He attended Auburn University after finishing high school and began his playing career there for the Auburn Tigers football team.
He was named to the second team All-SEC in 2014 and finished ninth nationally with six interceptions and 17 passes defended. During his 2015 college senior year, he was once more named to the second team All-SEC. Throughout his four years with the Tigers, he recorded 129 tackles and seven interceptions. He signed a three-year, $1.63 million contract with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in May 2016.
He played for the Patriots, who won Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. In the game, the Patriots prevailed over the Atlanta Falcons in overtime, 34-28. He agreed to a three-year, $21 million contract extension with the Patriots on September 7, 2019, extending his current deal through the 2023 campaign.
He recorded his first interception of the year in Week 6’s 18-12 defeat to the Denver Broncos after intercepting a pass fired by Drew Lock. He had a shoulder injury in Week 6 and was put on injured reserve on October 23, 2021.
