After having a great season with the Vikings, Tyler Conklin was able to cash in big with the Jets and earn a good paycheck.
The New York Jets has a contract with Conklin that is worth a total of $20.25 million over the course of three years. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the agreement will guarantee him ten million dollars.
The purchase of Conklin results in one-time capitalization costs of $3.4 million, $8.4 million, and $8.4 million.
If they let him go after only one season, the Jets would be responsible for paying a dead charge equal to $7.3 million.
Conklin just finished up a career-best season with the Vikings, the team that selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 draft. With 61 receptions, 593 yards, three touchdowns, and 15 starts, the 27-year-old set new personal records.
Conklin will team up with C.J. Uzomah, who was also signed as a free agent by New York, to give the Giants a makeover at the tight end position, which has been overlooked in recent years.
