Christopher James Uzomah, also known as C. J. Uzomah, is an American football tight end for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He is 1.98 m tall and 118 kg. He represented North Gwinnett High School as quarterback during that time.
During his senior year, he gained 74 yards on the ground, 168 receiving yards with a score, and 238 passing yards. In his junior season, he passed for 1,750 yards and 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 800 yards and another 10 scores. He played football for Auburn University’s Auburn Tigers from 2011 to 2014.
He only caught 29 passes, seven of which were for touchdowns, throughout his four seasons at Auburn, where he mostly played as a blocking tight end. He majored in marketing while attending Auburn. As a freshman, he made a four-yard touchdown toss. The Cincinnati Bengals selected him in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
In May 2015, he committed to the Bengals for a $4.49 million, four-year deal. He also received a $212,762 signing bonus. In March 2019, he added three additional years and $18 million to his Bengals contract. He was a full-time starter in every game in 2016 and caught 27 passes for 242 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In March 2022, he agreed to sign with the New York Jets, committing to a three-year $3 million contract.
