Benenoch just recently auditioned with the 49ers, but it appears that the Jets will end up being the best opportunity for him.
The Buccaneers selected Benenoch, now 28 years old, in the fifth round of the 2016 draft. He was set to earn a basic salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season and was in the final year of a four-year, $2.823 million contract when the Buccaneers released him a few weeks into the regular season.
Benenoch was eventually signed by the Patriots to a contract before being released a few weeks later. The Panthers took Benenoch off waivers and held him for a few weeks before releasing him once more.
Benenoch was given a contract with Dallas, but after just a few weeks, they released him. The Lions made a claim on him. He was released by Detroit in 2020 during training camp, and he then spent time on the Patriots practice squad.
Prior to joining the Saints in 2021, he briefly signed with the Bills during training camp. He was released from the camp and reinstated to the practice squad by New Orleans.
Before becoming a free agent this summer, Benenoch alternated between the Saints’ active roster and practice squad last year.
