Nathaniel William Herbig is an offensive lineman for the New York Jets of the National Football League.
Herbig was born in Lihue, Hawaii, and his childhood home was in Kalaheo, Hawaii.
Herbig moved from Kauai to Oahu following his freshman year of high school so that he could attend Saint Louis School in Honolulu.
As a senior, he was selected to the first team of All-State. After completing his junior year, Herbig made the decision to play collegiate football at Stanford.
However, he later changed his mind and reopened his recruitment shortly after the conclusion of his senior season. After taking into consideration the offers from California and Washington, he ultimately decided to recommit to Stanford.
Herbig was a member of the Stanford Cardinal football team for three seasons. He was recognized as a freshman All-American by ESPN after he played in all 13 of Stanford’s games and started six times at left guard.
As a sophomore, he made the switch to right guard, where he started all 13 games and was named to the first team All-Pac-12 Conference.
As a junior, Herbig was nominated to the second team of All-Pac-12 after making six starts at right guard and one start at right tackle despite being injured and missing six games.
Following the conclusion of his junior season, Herbig made the decision to forego his senior year of college and instead enter his name into the 2019 NFL Draft.
