He attended the University of Southern California for his undergraduate football career, where he was recognized with the Morris Trophy in 2020 and was named to the All-Pac-12 team twice. In the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Vera-Tucker was selected by the Jets to join their team.
Vera-Tucker spent his childhood in Oakland, California, where he also received his high school education at Bishop O’Dowd. As a senior, he was recognized as an Under Armour All-American for his work on the football team, where he played both offensive and defensive tackle positions.
