In the National Football League of American football, George Fant is an offensive lineman with the New York Jets (NFL). Football and basketball were two of his sports at Western Kentucky University.
He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Seahawks in 2016. As a hybrid tight end on tackle-eligible plays, Fant was first used by Seattle in 2018.
Fant’s 2017 season was over after tearing his ACL in the second game of the preseason. His injury reserve status began on September 2, 2017.
Fant started to perform the duties of an offensive tackle/tight end after rookie tight end Will Dissly was hurt during a game against the Arizona Cardinals in week four. He would line up as the sixth offensive lineman, either inside the line or outside, and declare himself to be a capable receiver. The Seahawks’ 2018 running offense was ranked as the best in the league thanks in large part to Fant, who did well in his new position.
A 9-yard throw from quarterback Russell Wilson was grabbed by Fant on December 10, 2018, during a Monday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings in week 13.
As a hybrid lineman in 2019, Fant kept working for the Seahawks. While Duane Brown was out with an injury for a portion of the season, he filled in as the starter’s primary backup offensive lineman.
When Fant helped the Seattle Seahawks rush for a season-high 218 yards in a 37-30 victory over the Minnesota Vikings on December 2, 2019, during a Monday Night Football game, he grabbed attention. He lined up along the line in various spots throughout the course of the game, and on 42 plays, he was listed as an eligible receiver.
