Where did Jermaine Johnson go to college?
At Independence Community College, Johnson started his academic career.
He played for head coach Jason Brown at Independence and was profiled in the fourth season of the Netflix docuseries Last Chance U. He recorded three forced fumbles, eight sacks, and 58 tackles as a freshman. After the season, Johnson changed schools to Georgia University.
As a sophomore for the Georgia Bulldogs, Johnson started every game and recorded 20 tackles and 2.5 sacks. He had 16 total tackles, four sacks, and 11 quarterback hurries as a senior, which was third-best on the team.
Johnson enrolled at Florida State for his final season of NCAA eligibility as a transfer player toward the end of the season.
In his first game for the Seminoles, a 41-38 overtime loss to Notre Dame, Johnson recorded seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks. Johnson was also named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week.
He concluded the year with 70 tackles, led the ACC with 18 tackles for loss, and recorded 12 sacks, earning him the titles of ACC Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-ACC.
