Carl Lawson is a defensive end who plays American football for the New York Jets, who are a member of the National Football League.
Lawson received his high school education from Milton High School in Milton, Georgia. He finished his junior year with 87 tackles and 15 sacks, and then his senior year with 78 tackles and 27 sacks.
Lawson was regarded as one of the best prospects in his class and received a rating of five stars from virtually every evaluator. He made a verbal commitment to play college football for Auburn University.
In 2013, when Lawson was a true freshman at Auburn, he racked up 20 tackles and four sacks. In 2014, he suffered an ACL injury that forced him to miss his sophomore year of high school.
Due to injury, Lawson was only able to participate in seven games during his junior season in 2015. He finished the year with 17 tackles and one sack.
On March 18, 2021, Lawson signed a contract with the New York Jets that was for $45 million over the course of three years.
During a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers on August 19, 2021, Lawson crashed with what seemed to be a left leg injury.
After further examination, an MRI determined that Lawson had ruptured his Achilles tendon in his left leg, putting an end to his 2021 NFL season.
