For the New York Jets of the National Football League, Christopher Thomas plays defensive tackle in American football. He is 1.91 m tall and 134 kg in weight. He played football when a student at Coppell High School. As a senior, he recorded 78 tackles and 12.5 sacks, and as a junior, he had 89 tackles and 8.5 sacks. He was one of the best players in his class and was classified as a four-star recruit.
He made a commitment to play collegiate football at Stanford University. From 2014 to 2016, he participated in college football with the Stanford Cardinal squad. He played in all 14 games in 2015, starting six of them, and finished with 39 tackles after redshirting his first year at Stanford in 2014.
He was selected as an honorable mention All-Pac-12 player in celebration of his strong 2015 campaign. He participated in and started all 13 games in 2016, recording 62 total tackles, 15.0 TFL, and 8.0 sacks. He received the Morris Trophy and was selected to the first team All-Pac-12. He announced his plan to enter the 2017 NFL Draft after the 2016 campaign.
San Francisco 49ers selected Thomas with the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. In March 2021, he agreed to a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. His stats include 34 tackles, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and participation in all 17 games. He signed a contract with the New York Jets in March 2022.
