Kwon Alexander is an American football player who plays linebacker for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He weighs 103 kg and stands 1.85 m tall. He was raised in Oxford, Alabama, where he was also born. When he attended Oxford High School, he participated in football. He participated in the Under Armour All-American Game for the black team.
He was chosen as a finalist for the High School Butkus Award, which is presented annually to the best linebacker in the nation. He was named to the 2011 ESPN All-Alabama Football Team in addition to being recognized on the Class 6A All-State Football Team. He played collegiate football for the LSU Tigers of Louisiana State University.
He played in seven games as a true freshman, started two of them, and made 12 tackles. He started nine out of the 13 games as a sophomore. As a junior, he led the team with 92 tackles and recorded 1.5 sacks. After his junior year was through, he signed up for the 2015 NFL Draft. He was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
In exchange for a $478,322 signing bonus, he signed a four-year, $2.75 million contract with the Buccaneers in May 2015. He and the San Francisco 49ers reached an understanding in March 2019 for a $44 million, four-year contract with a $27 million guarantee. He was dealt to the New Orleans Saints in November 2020. He signed with the New York Jets in July 2022.
