The New York Jets are still quite active in the run-up to the 2022 NFL Draft.
According to Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus, they welcomed former San Francisco 49ers defender Marcell Harris for a visit on Thursday, April 21.
Shortly after, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network verified that Harris would definitely sign a contract with them. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft as the 184th overall player.
He played as a safety at the University of Florida and was excellent in coverage and as a thumper.
Harris was rehabbing from a severe Achilles injury that cost him his final season in 2017 as he entered the 2018 draft, though.
He has played in more than 52 games for the 49ers over the past four years, starting 20 of them. Harris, who is best known as a safety, actually had a few chances to play linebacker in the NFL.
While Robert Saleh was the defensive coordinator for San Francisco from 2018 through 2020, the excellent defender switched sides and worked under the current Jets head coach throughout those three seasons.
How Much Does Marcell Harris Make?
Marcell Harris gets paid an average of $1,187,500 per year. Harris’ base salary in 2022 will be $1,035,000. He will also get a signing bonus of $100,000 and a roster bonus of $46,324. His cap hit will be $1,041,324.
