Marcell Harris participates in American football as a linebacker for the New York Jets of the National Football League. He participated in collegiate football at Florida. He is 98 kg in weight and 1.83 meters tall. He attended Dr. Phillips High School. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Florida, where he played college football for the Florida Gators team.
He made 102 tackles and two interceptions between 2014 and 2016. Due to a torn Achilles tendon, he was unable to participate in 2017’s games. Harris was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In September 2018, he was placed on injured reserve. He was taken off the injured list and added to the active roster in November 2018.
He was immediately added to the practice squad after the 49ers released him in August 2019. He was elevated to the active roster in October 2019. During their Week 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens, a close 20-17 road loss, Harris forced a fumble and recovered the ball.
He signed a one-year extension to his deal with the 49ers in March 2021 after the San Francisco 49ers were defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIV. At the start of the 2021 NFL season, it was revealed that Harris would switch positions from strong safety to linebacker. In April 2022, he agreed to a deal with the New York Jets.
