Ashtyn Davis plays safety in American football for the National Football League’s New York Jets. He competed in hurdles while playing college football for California.
Davis spent his childhood in Santa Cruz, California, and completed his secondary education at Santa Cruz High School. At Santa Cruz, he was a wide receiver, and in order to improve his speed as a football player, his quarterback suggested that he try out for the school’s track team.
Davis began receiving interest from college track coaches late in his senior year after he put up a strong performance in the 110-meter hurdles in a county track meet despite the fact that he had never competed in the event before. This was despite the fact that he had been lightly recruited as a football player.
Following a tryout in the spring of his freshman year, Davis joined the football team after initially joining the California track and field team as a walk-on.
In the second half of his redshirt sophomore season, Davis moved up the depth chart in the second half to take Jaylinn Hawkins’ place as the starting safety.
Who drafted Ashtyn Davis?
The New York Jets selected Ashtyn Davis with the 68th overall pick in the third round of the NFL Draft in 2020. In order to acquire this pick, the Jets had already parted ways with defensive lineman Leonard Williams, who was sent to the New York Giants.
