The value of Lamarcus Joyner’s second contract with the Jets is slightly lower than the value of his first deal with the team.
Before entering free agency, the safety decided to re-sign with the Jets. According to Over The Cap, Joyner, who is 31 years old, signed a one-year contract with a base value of $2.6 million.
Joyner has his whole salary of $2.1 million fully guaranteed, in addition to receiving a signing bonus of $700,000. In 2022, his salary cap hit will be worth $2.1 million.
During the offseason of the previous year, Joyner signed a one-year deal with New York Jets that was for $3 million. However, his first season with the Jets was cut short due to an injury.
Joyner had only 11 snaps when the Jets’ loss to the Panthers in Week 1, but the torn triceps muscle he sustained put an end to his season.
Before joining the Jets, Joyner played for the Rams for five years and the Raiders for two before making the move.
Even though he had a difficult time in his final season with the Raiders playing the nickel corner position, it was expected that he would be one of New York’s starting safeties in the previous season.
In his 96 career games, Joyner has recorded a total of 421 tackles, 33 pass breakups, and five sacks. Since being selected in the second round of that year’s draft, he has played in 59 games for his team.
