Kai Nacua, also known as Kaimana Nacua, is a professional football player who plays free safety for the New York Jets of the National Football League. Kai is 1.83 meters tall and weighs 93 kg. He was born on March 3, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Lionel and Penina Nacua. Kai attended Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada.
After high school, he enrolled at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he played NCAA football for the BYU Cougars. He was chosen by the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent in May 2017. On September 3, 2017, they fired him, and the following day they added him to their practice squad. On September 8, 2017, he was incorporated into the current roster.
The Browns released Nacua in April 2018. The Baltimore Ravens picked him up off waivers in May 2018. He joined the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in December 2018. On December 31, 2018, he and the Panthers reached an agreement on terms for a reserve/future contract. In August of this year, he received his freedom.
In November 2020, Nacua signed up for the San Francisco 49ers practice squad, then on December 2 he was promoted to the active roster. After being cut from the 49ers’ practice squad, Nacua was signed by the New York Jets in December 2021. He was added to the list of participants on December 25, 2021.
