Former Cowboys and Rams placekicker Greg Zuerlein recently signed a one-year, $2.75 million contract with the New York Jets.
Rich Cimini of ESPN reports that this agreement has a basic value of $2 million and a fully guaranteed sum of $1 million.
The signing bonus for 34-year-old Zuerlein was $250,000, and his cap hit is $1.985 million.
Last season, Zuerlein’s field goal attempts for Dallas were 29-35.
Additionally, he made 42 of 48 extra-point tries. Zuerlein has been a pro for ten years and has a career field goal percentage and extra point percentage of 82.2% and 95.8%, respectively.
Eddy Piñeiro and Zuerlein will battle it out to be the Jets’ primary kickers. Piñeirohad recently renewed his contract for another year.
Known for his powerful legs, “Greg the Leg” made two field goals of at least 58 yards each for the first time in NFL history.
He was also the first kicker to make both a 50- and a 60-yarder in the same match.
Zuerlein’s touchback rate from the previous campaign was 80%, and he has a 79% success rate (65 of 82) on field goals from 40 to 49 yards and a 55% success rate (38 of 69) on tries from 50 to 59 yards.
Zuerlein has made nine of his eleven field goals in seven postseason games.
