The Baltimore Ravens offered contracts to six exclusive rights free agents on Wednesday, including Tyler Huntley.
The former standout quarterback for Utah has now committed to the Ravens for another campaign after starting four games for Baltimore late in the 2021 campaign.
While filling in for starting quarterback Lamar Jackson last year, Huntley had a 1-3 record as a starter. He ran for 294 yards and two touchdowns in addition to throwing for 1,081 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Huntley was an exclusive rights free agent because his contract had expired and he had fewer than three accrued seasons when he entered the league as an undrafted free agency in 2020.
The Ravens made sure Huntley wouldn’t leave for free agency when the new league year started the next week by tendering him.
Huntley earned $780,000 last year, according to Spotrac, and with the contract tender, as an exclusive rights free agent, he will earn the league minimum (based on his credited seasons, per NFL.com). According to Spotrac, this will earn Huntley $895,000 in the 2022 season.
In light of the recent news of Russell Wilson being traded to the Denver Broncos and Aaron Rodgers signing a new four-year contract with Green Bay, Huntley’s name has been mentioned as a potential trade candidate.
