Augustus Edwards is a running back for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League. He has been placed on the Ravens’ reserve/physically unable to perform list, meaning he will miss the first four games of the 2022 season.
How did Gus Edwards get hurt?
Last year, Edwards sustained a knee injury in preseason camp only days before the Ravens’ Week 1 game, and he has yet to fully recover. He won’t be able to play again until at least October 9 against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5.
Edwards is a reliable back for the Ravens, as evidenced by his career 5.2 ypc average. He had 718 yards as a rookie, 711 in 2019, and 723 in 2020 on the ground. Edwards’ contract with the Ravens was extended by two years in June.
With Edwards out, the Ravens are counting on J.K. to step up. Dobbins will be playing in games when the regular season begins. It’s too early to tell if Dobbins will be ready for Week 1 against the Jets, but Harbaugh said he’s making good progress.
At the same time, Justice Hill, newcomer Tyler Badie, and Nate McCrary are also vying for a spot on the roster among veterans Mike Davis and Davis.
