Liberian-born professional gridiron football running back for the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League, Augustus “Gus” Edwards was born on April 13, 1995.
He attended Rutgers after playing collegiate football at Miami (FL) and signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2018.
Given the moniker “Gus Bus,” Edward is recognized for his imposing stature and “bruising” running gait. He has a strong body and weighs 108kg which is equivalent to 238Ib.
Edwards was born in Liberia and immigrated to the US when he was five years old. Tottenville High School was where he went to school and played football in high school.
ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout.com all rated Edwards as a three-star prospect.
Edwards attended the University of Miami from 2013 to 2016 then transferred to Rutgers as a graduate student in 2017.
On May 4, 2018, Edwards signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent. He was released on September 1, 2018, and the following day he was added to the practice squad.
On October 13, 2018, he was promoted to the active roster. He made his professional debut in the 21-0 victory over the Tennessee Titans in Week 6 of the 2018 campaign. In the contest, he had 10 carries for 42 yards.
He had 17 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown in a Week 11 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
On March 10, 2021, the Ravens tendered Edwards a restricted free agent tender in the second round.
On June 7, he agreed to a $10 million, two-year contract extension with the group. In practice on September 8, 2021, Edwards tore his ACL, ruining his season. The next day, he was placed on injured reserve.
