Augustus Edwards, better known by his stage name “Gus,” plays running back for the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens.
He was conceived on April 13, 1995, in Liberia. Edwards, who was born in Liberia, moved to the US at the age of five.
He attended Tottenville High School, where he played football in high school. Before enrolling at Rutgers, Edwards attended the University of Miami and played NCAA football there.
In 2018, he signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent.
Given the moniker “Gus Bus,” Edward is recognized for his imposing stature and “bruising” ESPN, 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout.com all rated Edwards as a three-star prospect.
Edwards attended the University of Miami from 2013 to 2016 then transferred to Rutgers as a graduate student in 2017.
On May 4, 2018, Edwards agreed to terms with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent.
On September 1, 2018, he was discharged, and the next day he was added to the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster on October 13, 2018.
Edwards received a restricted free agent offer from the Ravens in the second round on March 10, 2021.
He and the company reached an agreement on a two-year, $10 million contract extension on June 7.
Edwards tore his ACL during practice on September 8, 2021, ending his season. He was added to the injured reserve the following day.
