Tony Poljan is a tight end for the Baltimore Ravens, who compete in American football and are members of the National Football League.
He attended Central Michigan and Virginia for his college football careers where he played for the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Virginia Cavaliers football respectively.
Poljan spent his childhood in Lansing, Michigan, and graduated from Lansing Catholic High School, where he earned a letter in track and field in addition to his athletic accomplishments in basketball and football.
As a sophomore, he took over as the main quarterback for the Cougars, and as a junior, he led the team in passing with 2,802 yards and 34 touchdowns while simultaneously leading the team in rushing with 1,017 yards and 22 touchdowns.
Poljan was nominated to the first team of Division 5–6 all-state and the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year after his senior season in which he completed passes for 1,907 yards and 16 touchdowns, ran for 1,237 yards and scored 25 total touchdowns.
Poljan had previously promised that he would play collegiate football for Minnesota, but he backed out of that commitment once head coach Jerry Kill announced his retirement.
In the end, he decided to play football at Central Michigan, where his father had previously played, rather than accept offers from Nebraska, Iowa State, or Michigan State, where the coaches wanted him to play a different position.
Poljan received scholarship offers to play basketball from Central Michigan and Toledo as well.
