He went to Westlake High School in California, where he played football. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent after going undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft. He eventually made the 53-man roster for the Ravens after displaying his versatility. The Ravens have had undrafted players on their roster for 16 years in a row. In November 2020, the Ravens team moved him onto the reserve/COVID-19 list. In the same year’s December, he was put into service.
Due to the injuries to starting left tackle Ronnie Stanley and starting left guard/backup right tackle Tyre Phillips in Week 1 of the 2021 season, he was entrusted with replacing them as the Ravens’ starting right tackle. Mekari was able to start the remaining games of the season because Alejandro Villanueva, the starting right tackle, switched to the left tackle position. He extended his contract with the Ravens by three more years on December 30, 2021.
