After some shaky play along the offensive line at the end of last season, the Baltimore Ravens made it a priority to strengthen that unit this year. Also, Kevin Zeitler could be the most game-changing addition of all.
Shortly after being released by the New York Giants in March, Zeitler was signed to a three-year, $22.5 million contract by the Baltimore Ravens. That’s a steal for such a quality starting guard.
Pro Football Focus Brad Spielberger recently published the best and worst contracts for each team. Zeitler was voted the top player on the Ravens.
After being released by the Giants, Zeitler did not factor into the compensatory pick formula, so the Ravens were praised for their shrewd signing.
When compared to the big contract he had before coming to Baltimore, which made him the highest-paid guard in football at the time of his signing, Zeitler’s $7.5 million AAV places him as the 17th highest-paid guard in the NFL.
As a result, the Ravens were able to extract significantly more benefits from the signing than anticipated.
After Marshal Yanda announced his retirement at the end of the 2019 season, the team is counting on Zeitler to come in as the starting right guard immediately.
The offensive line for the Ravens, which will boast a fresh appearance this season thanks to the addition of at least three new starters, will include the 32-year-old player.
