He was raised in the American city of Daphne, Alabama. He was a student at Daphne High. He attended Tulane University after graduating and played collegiate football there for the Tulane Green Wave from 2011 to 2012.

He continued his college career with the Samford Bulldogs after transferring to Samford University in 2013. Pierce became an undrafted free agent and signed with the Baltimore Ravens in May 2016. He played in all 16 games as a rookie in 2016 and finished the year with 35 tackles, two sacks, and one defended pass.
