He played football there for the Alabama Crimson Tide from 2014 and 2016.

Due to his significant impact to an efficient Alabama defense, he was included on the Freshman All-American team in 2015. The team eventually captured their 16th national championship. In the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens. In May 2017, the Ravens offered him a fully guaranteed four-year, $11.84 million contract with a $6.75 million signing bonus.
