He played football when a student at McClymonds High School in Oakland, California. He scored six touchdowns on kickoff or punt returns and had seven interceptions as a senior.

On December 28, Peters and the Ravens came to terms on a three-year, $42 million contract. Peters tore his ACL on September 8, 2021, during a practice. He was put on injured reserve the next day.
