James Conner is an American football running back for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL).
He played college football at Pittsburgh and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2014, he garnered AFCA first-team All-American honors and was awarded the ACC Player of the Year.
Conner set a new mark most rushing yards in a season with 26 on December 26, 2013, as his team defeated Bowling Green by a score of 30–27 in the Little Caesars Bowl. As a result of his performance, he was voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.
Both in terms of rushing yards (799) and rushing touchdowns (eight), he finished in first place for the club.
Conner’s 229 running yards in the bowl game were enough to break the previous school record held by Tony Dorsett for most rushing yards in a bowl game.
Conner’s sophomore year got off to a strong start by rushing for 153 yards on 14 runs and scoring a season-high four touchdowns in the opening game of the season, which was a 62–0 triumph over Delaware.
