Matt Prater is a professional placekicker for the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals. He weighs and is 1.78 m tall. He attended Estero High School in Estero, Florida, where he also played football, and he played collegiate football for the UCF Knights for all four years he attended the University of Central Florida.

He played in 46 games over the course of his four years of college, making field goals on 50 of 74 attempts with a long of 53 yards. With 50 field goals, he matches the school record, and his 258 points rank fourth all-time.

Prater was acquired by the Detroit Lions in May 2006 as an undrafted free agent. He soon signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons. In November 2007, the Miami Dolphins added him to the practice squad. In December 2007, the Denver Broncos acquired Prater off the Dolphins’ practice squad. He was given a one-year contract by the Detroit Lions in October 2014.
