Five of the seven players that the Arizona Cardinals selected in this year’s NFL draft have already signed professional contracts with the team. Marco Wilson, a cornerback from Florida who was selected in the fourth round, was one of the first three players to sign his contract.
In the draft, Wilson was the 136th overall selection. By giving up their fourth-round pick for him, the Cardinals were able to advance 24 spots in the draft to get him.
During the course of the deal, he will earn the lowest possible pay allowed by the league. It is projected that he will make $660,000 in the year 2021, $825,000 in the year 2022, $940,000 in the year 2023, and $1.055 million in the year 2024.
However, the salary for the years 2022 and beyond is subject to change in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the league.
If he is included on the 53-man roster for the rest of the season, his salary cap charge will be greater than $822,000.
In addition, as Balzer points out, Wilson’s contract includes a split for this year as well as for the preseason in 2022. If he gets placed on injured reserve before the start of the 2022 season or during this season, his salary will be reduced to $415,000.
How Much Does Marco Wilson Make?
The average salary for Marco Wilson is $1,032,595 per year. Wilson’s base salary in 2022 will be $825,000. His cap hit will be $987,595 and his dead cap value will be $487,785.
