He was a member of the American Heritage School football squad. He turned down offers to play collegiate football at other universities in favor of Florida.
He played college football for the University of Florida’s Florida Gators from 2017 to 2020. As a true freshman, he had 34 tackles and broke up 10 passes. On December 12, 2020, late in a game, he had a notable incident as a junior in which he threw a shoe in celebration, which resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. In May 2021, when he signed a four-year rookie contract, he made his commitment to the Cardinals. In his debut season in 2021, he started as a cornerback and finished with 48 tackles, two forced fumbles, and two passes deflected over 14 games and 13 starts.
