The Arizona Cardinals have acquired guard Cody Ford from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2023. General manager Brandon Beane is trying to get down to 53 players for the regular season, and this is part of that process.
There will be no trace of Ford’s 2022 $1.47 million salary on Buffalo’s records. To pay for the bonuses owing to Ford, the team has a dead-cap cost of $910,000.
Ford was the 38th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft for the Buffalo Bills. He spent the previous three seasons with the team, but his play never lived up to the lofty expectations placed on second-round picks.
Despite widespread predictions that he would be an early draft pick at tackle, he failed to adjust to the position. The Bills didn’t see much improvement in his play after he switched to guard, and he eventually ran as the ninth lineman in training this summer.
How Much Does Cody Ford Make?
Cody Ford pulls in an annual salary of approximately $1,876,660 on average. Ford’s total compensation for the year 2022 will consist of a base salary of $1,468,747 and a cap hit of the same amount.
