Marquis Hayes is now a member of the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. He plays the position of offensive guard for the Cardinals. He is 147 kg in weight and 1.96 meters tall. At Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri, he played football both as a junior and a senior.
Although he was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, he decided to play college football at Oklahoma over offers from other universities. He participated in college football games for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2017 to 2021. His true first year at Oklahoma he redshirted. In three games as a redshirt freshman in 2018, he played offensive line in the backup position.
He started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games that season as the Sooners’ starting left guard as a redshirt sophomore. During the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season for the Sooners, he switched to right guard and started 11 games. He switched back to left guard as a redshirt senior and started each of Oklahoma’s 13 games.
He declared that he would be participating in the 2022 NFL Draft when the season ended. The Arizona Cardinals selected Hayes with the 257th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2022 Draft. On August 30, 2022, he was placed on injured reserve.
