Jared Bernhardt was raised in Longwood, Florida. Jim, his father, oversaw the Houston Texans’ football research in addition to coaching football at Hofstra, Brown, Central Florida, and Penn State.
At Lake Brantley High School, Bernhardt participated in both football and lacrosse. As a senior, he played quarterback in a triple-option offence, rushed for 1,457 yards and 12 touchdowns, and passed for 751 yards and six more.
Jared plays for the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons (NFL) American football wide receiver. He previously played collegiate lacrosse for Maryland, where he took home the Tewaaraton Award as the top player in the country. He then played quarterback for Ferris State for one season of college football.
At Lake Brantley, Bernhardt was an All-American midfielder for lacrosse. As a sophomore, he committed to play for the University of Maryland. Over the course of five seasons, Bernhardt played lacrosse for the Maryland Terrapins men’s team.
His senior season was cut short after six games due to COVID-19. In his sixth season back, Bernhardt received the Tewaaraton Award as the top collegiate lacrosse player in the country. He graduated from Maryland as the school’s all-time leader in goals with 202 and points with 290.

Jared Bernhardt was, in a nutshell, the finest college lacrosse player Maryland had ever seen and one of the greatest players in college lacrosse history. His undefeated season and DII football championship with Ferris State in the fall of 2021 followed a spring in which he broke school lacrosse records.
