He played football while he was a student at New Oxford High School. At Pennsylvania Western University, he also spent four seasons playing collegiate football for the California Vulcans.
With 231 defensive tackles, he completed his collegiate career. In 2010 and 2011, he was chosen for both the First and Second teams of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).
