He participated in football when a student at New Oxford High School. Additionally, he spent four seasons playing collegiate football with the California Vulcans at Pennsylvania Western University.

In 2011, he was chosen for the PSAC Second Team. On April 11, 2013, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats acquired Harris. On offense, he caught a touchdown, and he also had three interceptions. He signed a reserve/future contract with the New Orleans Saints in February 2016. The Saints released him in September 2017. He signed a one-year, $630,000 contract with the Oakland Raiders in the same month. On December 21, 2020, the Raiders placed him on the COVID-19 list and the reserve list.
On January 1st, 2021, he became active. He committed to the Atlanta Falcons on a one-year deal in March 2021. He was put on season-ending injured reserve after sustaining a torn pectoral in Week 14. Through 12 starts, he recorded 64 tackles and eight passes defended to finish the season. He re-signed with the Falcons on a one-year deal in March 2022.
