Hennessy was raised in the nearby town of Bardonia, New York after being born in nearby Nyack. He went to Don Bosco Preparatory High School in Ramsey, New Jersey, and with the Ironmen, he started as an offensive tackle in his junior and senior years.
According to rivals.com, Hennessy is a three-star offensive tackle recruit. Hennessy chose to play collegiate football at Temple over offers from a variety of other schools, including Air Force, Army, Florida Atlantic, Old Dominion, and Yale.
