On Tuesday afternoon, the Atlanta Falcons made the move to add tight end Parker Hesse to their active roster.
Hesse was rewarded with a position on the 53-man roster after playing an active role against the Buffalo Bills after being raised from the practice squad.
Against Buffalo, Hesse, who is 6-3 and 260 pounds, had three catches for 31 yards and performed admirably in his job as a blocker.
After Hesse’s performance against the Bills, head coach Arthur Smith was effusive in his praise for the 27-year-old player, including comments on his unconventional route to the NFL.
At Iowa, Hesse played alongside Hockenson and Fant, both of whom went on to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft by their respective teams, the Denver Broncos and the Detroit Lions.
Hesse’s status with the Falcons has been all over the place, including on the practice squad on more than one occasion. This season, he has already participated in seven games, and it appears like he will play in his eighth game on Sunday.
