DeAngelo Malone, an outside linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League, was born on July 12, 1999. He wears jersey number 51 for the team.
His college football career was spent at Western Kentucky. Malone was educated at Martin Luther King Jr. High School before transferring to Cedar Grove High School. He grew up in Ellenwood, Georgia.
During his first season as a starter for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Malone racked up 25 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and five quarterback hurries.
He finished the season as a sophomore with 60 tackles, nine tackles for loss, six sacks, eight quarterback hurries, and two forced fumbles, earning him honorable mention All-Conference USA recognition.
Malone debated going pro in the NFL Draft in 2020 but finally opted to stay for his senior year.
Malone was named the preseason Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, one of the top five outside linebacker prospects for the 2021 NFL draft by ESPN, and was on the watchlists for the Chuck Bednarik Award and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy heading into his senior year.
The Atlanta Falcons selected Malone with the 82nd overall choice in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. In the deal that sent Matt Ryan to the Indianapolis Colts, the pick was previously acquired by the Falcons.
