According to an announcement made by the Falcons on Saturday, fullback Keith Smith has re-signed with the organization on a three-year deal.
Smith, a veteran of the NFL who has been in the league for six years, signed with the Falcons on September 2. The value of the transaction might reach $5.5 million, and also includes an escalator provision for $1.2 million.
The entire amount of guaranteed portion of the contract is $1.95 million, in addition to a signing bonus of $1.1 million.
Smith appeared in 16 games during the previous season and started five of those games. His eight special-teams tackles and two special-teams forced fumbles put him at the top of the team statistics.
San Jose State alumnus and undrafted free agent linebacker Smith was signed by the Cowboys in 2014.
As a result of his performance on the scout team, he was moved to fullback at the conclusion of the 2015 season.
