Mykal Walker, a native of Fresno, California started off his career at Vacaville High School. The linebacker, who is also a twin, is from a family of athletes.

His dad played for the Fresno State Bulldogs football team and his cousin Maurice Jones-Drew is a former NFL  running back.

Walker enrolled at the Azusa Pacific University after high school. He later transferred to Fresno State just after two seasons with the Pacific.

He finished the 2019 season with 91 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, and 5 pass breakups. Walker graduated from Fresno State with a total of 182 tackles, including 22.5 tackles for a loss, 10 pass defenses, and 6.5 sacks after playing football there for two seasons.

Walker won the Defensive MVP award during the 2018 Mountain West Conference Football Championship Game in addition to being selected twice to the First Team All-Mountain West Conference.

Walker was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, with the 119th overall pick.

Walker picked off Cam Newton and returned the interception 66 yards for a score in Week 14’s 29-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers.
