After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Azusa Pacific University and spent two seasons playing collegiate football for the Azusa Pacific Cougars.
He resumed playing football with the Fresno State Bulldogs after transferring there in 2017. He made 91 tackles in 2019, with 11.5 tackles for a loss and 5 pass deflections. In 26 games, he recorded 183 tackles (94 solo) for Fresno, 23 tackles for loss, 7.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, eight quarterback hits, one interception, and two blocked kicks.
With the 119th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Walker in the fourth round. He recorded 40 total tackles as a rookie linebacker in 2020, one tackle for loss, two quarterback hits, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and six special teams stops in 16 games with six starts. In Week 14 of the 2021 season, Walker picked off a pass from Cam Newton and returned it 66 yards for a score as part of a victory over the Carolina Panthers of 29-21.
