Billy Evans is the husband of Elizabeth Holmes and the successor of the Evans Hotel Group, which was established in 1995 in San Diego by his grandfather William Evans and his grandmother, Anne Evans.
Growing up in San Diego, Evans attended kindergarten through high school at Francis Parker Upper School. Evans went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and got his Bachelor of Science in Economics in 2015.
Before landing his first post-college employment as a Strategy and Analytics Leadership Program Analyst at Linkedin from July 2015 to February 2017, Evans reportedly held positions at Qualcomm Ventures, Encore Capital Group, Red Bull, Altman Vilandrie & Company, and The Boston Consulting Group.
Before he started working at LinkedIn, however, Evans attempted to launch a healthcare company that would charge wealthy Chinese individuals a fee in order to shuttle them to the United States for concierge medical attention complete with “a driver, beautiful hotels, and the greatest health care,” according to a source who spoke to The New York Post.
Evans’ plan was to charge these individuals a fee in exchange for providing these individuals with “the best health care.” Later, the source added, “Then he realized that it’s actually very hard to get in with the affluent Chinese community if you’re not fluent in Chinese, so he dropped that.”
Evans worked at Luminar Technologies (which makes sensors for autonomous vehicles) as a Manager of Special Projects between February 2017 and January 2019.
How Did Evans And Holmes Meet?
As reported by Elle in 2017, Evans and Holmes first crossed paths at a gathering. The Sun reported that the two were seen on a date at the Burning Man event in 2018, mere days before Theranos ceased operations.
The couple entered into a legally binding marriage during the summer of 2019.
