In his junior year, he hauled in 41 passes for 630 yards and six touchdowns. As a senior, he scored seven touchdowns on the ground and had 41 receptions for 857 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns. His collegiate football career began at Ohio State University, where he studied after graduating from high school and played for the Buckeyes.

He participated as a backup in all 14 games as a true freshman in 2014, including the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship victory over Oregon. Playing wide receiver, H-back, and on special teams, he had one reception for nine yards and one run for a four-yard loss. Brown was chosen by the Dallas Cowboys with the 239th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
