This season, the Dallas Cowboys have placed a significant emphasis on adding depth in the secondary. Malik Hooker brings diversity to the table, but he does it while keeping a wary eye on the long term.
The terms of a contract between Dallas and Hooker have just been finalized, and the figures are now available. The agreement (originally reported by the Dallas News) is for two years and will pay him $920,000 with a $490,000 guarantee.
Hooker won’t participate in the Hall of Fame game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, but he is anticipated to eventually fight for playing time and perhaps a starting position in the back end of the secondary.
Hooker, the 15th overall choice in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Ohio State, has been a successful starter when healthy. He had 124 tackles, seven interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries in his first three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts.
