According to an announcement made by the team this week, former Kentucky cornerback Kelvin Joseph has signed a contract with the Dallas Cowboys.
While the exact terms of Joseph’s four-year contract with the club are unknown, he is likely to earn somewhere around $7.8 million.
Joseph was chosen by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft in Cleveland this spring with the 44th overall pick.
This makes Joseph the second athlete from the University of Kentucky to sign with an NFL franchise after being taken in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Due to a 10-day quarantine, Joseph had to miss some of the Cowboys’ organized team activities (OTAs). However, he was given the all-clear to return for this week’s minicamp.
Joseph started the first nine games of the 2020 season for Kentucky after sitting out the 2019 campaign as a transfer, compiling 25 total tackles and ranking tied for seventh nationally and second in the SEC with four interceptions before opting out before the season-ending matchup against South Carolina.
In a Kentucky jersey, Joseph’s most notable performance was a 41-yard pick-six of Jarrett Guarantano against Tennessee on October 17 that gave the Wildcats a quick 7-0 lead.
