Jayron Kearse was born in Florida, in the city of Fort Myers. He went to high school at Cypress Lake. Before he went through a period of rapid development as a freshman, his initial height measurement was 5 feet 8 inches, and he played safety on the defensive team.
His stats as a sophomore included 1,049 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, and 5 passing touchdowns. He was chosen as the starting quarterback on a team that ran a Wing T offense.

After playing safety, running back, and wide receiver, he helped lead his team to an 11–2 record by rushing for 528 yards (12.3 yards per carry) and five touchdowns, in addition to five more receiving touchdowns while averaging 18.9 yards per reception; as a safety on defense, he tallied 87 tackles, three sacks, and one interception.
